The Pirton Court South Hotel elegantly blends historic features with contemporary décor. James Fisher is watching.

In the Worcestershire countryside between the Malvern Hills and the Cotswolds, you’ll find the elegant Pirton Court South Hotel in the village of Pirton.

The property, which has changed over the centuries, is currently up for sale through Fine & Country for over £1.35m.

Originally built in 1904 as an Edwardian addition to the nearby Elizabethan Courthouse, the hotel offers five bedrooms and 2 ¼ acres of land, as well as plenty of period touches.

One of the highlights should definitely be the wood paneled living room with a gorgeous stone fireplace. The Great Hall is equally magnificent, with a baroque carved stone fireplace and original exposed brick and wood walls.

Other areas guaranteed to make you look twice include the impressive kitchen with parquet flooring, antique panelling, and Aga, and the incredible oak-canopied master bedroom with a large, working stone fireplace.

Also not to be overlooked is the garden room, with two double doors that lead directly to the terrace and gardens, which include a wildlife pond, sundeck, lawns and paddocks. Additional buildings include a garage, stables, studio and workshop.

There are many footpaths and walkways near the hotel, and just seven miles from Worcester Cathedral, you have easy access to shops, cricket grounds, racetracks and a major university.

Transport is excellent, with the market town of Pershore (only five miles away) from which there is a direct train to London Paddington in 90 minutes.

Speaking of the house, the sellers note that “Pirton Court is a truly unique property that can transform from a vacation home to a family vacation destination and an impressive entertainment home.”
